In 2008 my family and I moved to a small town on the Pacific coast of Mexico, La Manzanilla.  At the time there was no comprehensive website for the town.  No way to find out if there was a bank in town (there wasn’t), how to get there, if credit cards were accepted (they are not),  where to stay.  I decided to build a site for the town and in the middle of the project I thought I could turn it into a business and not just a labor of love.  After a few stops and starts, I had never built a website before so there was that, I got the site up and running and began to sell advertising to vacation rental owners.  Today the site is the premier tourism portal and rental site for the town.  I actively market it through social medial, media relations and paid online advertising.
